His body of work includes over 400 paintings, 22 murals and countless illustrations documenting daily life of working class multicultural mid-century Orange County. Nominated by the United Artists of Santa Ana (UASA), Vasquez will be honored at a special reception on May 25th 11am-4pm at the Artists at the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art ~ Saturday, May 25, 2013 11am-4pm.

I am an artist that specializes in WWII Nose Art. Everything I paint existed on a WWII fighter or bomber. I don't make up the names or choose the imagery from random references. My work pays homage to all the men and women who fought and sacrificed their lives for their countries.
The pieces I paint are 3' X 4' machine contoured, hand drilled, hand riveted and weigh about 20 pounds. I previously worked in aerospace as a structure mechanic, so I combined my aircraft knowledge with my art training and came up with my work.
I have an exhibit Saturday November 10th (6:00PM) at Ink'd Chronicles Tattoo Shop in Pomona, CA.

During his directorship, the space became a vortex in the world for progressive and community based artists and organizations. Chicano, Latino, and at-large, all welcomed at La Pena. Several generations of artists and gente have been a part of La Pena, but there is only one Paul Chin, and he will be missed! Thank you amigo!

The Program in Art seeks an accomplished artist with a painting practice, significant exhibition record and extensive teaching experience. We actively seek and encourage applications from candidates who share the Program’s commitment to diversity and social justice. The candidate will be required to teach practical, theoretical and critical aspects of painting to both graduates and undergraduates through classes, independent study meetings, reviews and mentoring. The candidate must have the ability to address a broad range of artistic media and diverse student interests. Collateral responsibilities include student recruitment, faculty meetings, curriculum development, participation in Program leadership and service to the Institute. The qualified applicant should have a minimum of three years, or equivalent, of full-time college level teaching experience.
The application should include a letter of intent, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, three letters of recommendation and examples of work. Brief course proposals are encouraged.

Steve Alcalá of Fresno California is our most recent LAN Maestro Awardee. He has had a profound impact on his community through Latin American music and after 32 years of teaching, he officially retired this past weekend at a reunion concert organized by his former students in his honor….many of them have gone on to music careers. ¡Felicidades Maestro Alcalá!

SerafínFalcón leads a cast of 31 actors, musicians and dancers in thetitle role of August G., 46, a street sweeper who receives a blow to the headwhile striking for better working conditions. As his life flashes before his eyes, all the characters of his life meetfor one last rendezvous in a sort of fantastic and desperate dancemarathon. The play will coincide with anart exhibit entitled “Revolutionary Visions,” curated by Lilia Ramirez and featuring mixed mediaand experimental contemporary photography.
